Ruth Ray came back to school today. Sure had a swell English assembly program.

*The first edition of the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, often abbreviated to SOED, was published this month. A scaled-down version of the Oxford English Dictionary, its two volumes were "to present in miniature all the features of the (twenty-volume) principal work" and to be "a quintessence of those vast materials" in the complete OED.
